Government lawyer returns to Sparkes
Sparke Helmore has announced that Chantal Tipene has returned to the firm as a partner, following a stint working in-house.
Ms Tipene (pictured) has more than 10 years' experience advising Commonwealth, state and local governments and is an accredited specialist in government and administrative law.
Sparke Helmore's national government group leader Richard Morrison said: "I'm delighted that Chantal is returning to us after being deputy general counsel at the NSW Police Force for the past three years.”
She is taking over leadership of the government team in Sparke Helmore’s Sydney office from Phillip Salem, as he transitions into the role of national managing partner in March.
Mr Salem said: "I worked closely with Chantal when she was a senior associate in my team and I'm confident that she will be a tremendous asset to the firm and the partnership."
Ms Tipene has experience advising on commercial law matters, administrative law including both merits review and judicial review, and statutory interpretation matters.
She also advises on litigation, including solicitor advocacy, particularly in the NSW Civil and Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
Ms Tipene is a member of the NSW Law Society's Government and Administrative Law Committee and is also a member of the NSW Law Society's Specialist Accreditation Board.
