Darwin lawyer appointed ALA head

Greg Phelps, partner at Darwin-based boutique firm Ward Keller, has been named to the role.
Mr Phelps previously served two years as the Northern Territory president of the organisation.
He instructs regularly in the Northern Territory Appeal Court in criminal and civil matters and, in 2012 and 2013, was the instructing counsel in 75 per cent of High Court cases filed in the Northern Territory.
Mr Phelps replaces Andrew Stone, a Sydney barrister at Sir James Martin Chambers who will continue to serve as the ALA’s New South Wales director.
