Corrs veteran chooses boutique life
A long-serving litigation partner from Corrs Chambers Westgarth has defected to two-office firm Russells.
Paul McCann (pictured) has been a partner at Corrs Chambers Westgarth and predecessor firms for the past 25 years.
Russells also has an office in Brisbane.
Mr McCann has extensive experience in commercial litigation, various federal and state commissions of inquiry, and the defence in corporate prosecutions. His clients have included Gina Rinehart, Rio Tinto and the Catholic Church.
He said he decided to move from a national firm to a boutique firm to “spend the balance of my career closer to my clients and closer to the real practice of the law”.
Russells stated that Mr McCann was appointed to bolster the firm’s expertise in property, commercial litigation and corporate finance.
Corrs also lost its head of IP, technology and competition law to King & Wood Mallesons last month.
But the national firm quickly filled the gap, announcing the appointment of a former principal at intellectual property firm Griffith Hack, Kate Hay, to its IP practice a week later.
