M&A lawyer Grant Koch will leave Allen & Overy, where he leads the Australian private equity section, to join DLA Piper in the same role.

According to a statement from DLA Piper, Mr Koch specialises in private equity transactions, venture capital, capital management and complex equity arrangements.

He is qualified in both Australia and the UK and has worked through Australia, the Asia Pacific and Britain.

DLA Piper managing partner John Weber said Mr Koch would help grow their corporate practice in Australia.

“DLA Piper provides an attractive platform for potential lateral partners looking to support their local and international clients, particularly as we continue to invest in growing key capabilities to serve major corporate and government clients in the Australian market and internationally,” Mr Weber said.

Mr Koch said he was delighted to join DLA Piper.

“It is a law firm with significant momentum and obvious investment in Australia and the Asia Pacific region,” he said.

Earlier this month a dozen DLA Piper staff, including one partner and five lawyers, moved to Mills Oakley.

The firm also recently lost energy and resources partner Robert Edel to King & Wood Mallesons and partner Bill Glover to Holding Redlich.
