THE INTERNATIONAL law office (ILO) has awarded Allens Arthur Robinson and Minter Ellison Rudd Watts the Client Choice Award for Australia and New Zealand respectively.
The Australian award was received by Allens partner Fred Chilton on behalf of the firm at the ceremony in Chicago, with Clayton Utz, Freehills and Mallesons Stephen Jaques making up the other finalists.
“We’re gratified to receive this type of international recognition, particularly when it is based on client feedback,” Allens chairman Jim Thynne said.
“This is further testament to our dedication to client service and the provision of the most appropriate advice to our clients. All thanks to our clients for taking the time to give their feedback,” he said.
Allens has also been named the 2006 BRW-St George Client Choice Best Large Law Firm and Best Overall Professional Services Firm, and Thynne said the firm “will strive to continue to improve on the standards which are recognised by these awards”.
Auckland partners Robert Falvey and Andrew Ryan accepted the award on behalf of Minter Ellison Rudd Watts in Chicago.
“Our lawyers are amongst New Zealand’s finest — displaying in-depth industry knowledge, providing tailored solutions to add value to clients’ business operations, and consistently demonstrating legal excellence,” the firm’s chief executive officer, Russell Hay, said. “The award recognises these strengths in our team.”
The client’s choice for best international firm award was given to Baker & McKenzie LLP.
Firms were assessed on the criteria of quality of legal advice, value for money, commercial awareness, effective communication, billing transparency, tailored fee structures, depth of team, response time, sharing of expertise, and use of technology.
The ceremony was attended by 120 managing and senior partners representing the nominated firms, with an exclusive winner in each of the 34 jurisdictions chosen. More than 1,000 corporate counsel participated in the independently gathered research, evaluating firms that they had worked with in the past 18 months.
ILO said their international awards are the only awards to focus on the full spectrum of client service and customer care.
