Slater & Gordon staff are rallying behind their colleague as he prepares to fight it out in the Commonwealth Games.
Australian table tennis champion and staff IT database administrator William Henzell, 28, trains 15 hours a week at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre while working full-time at Slater & Gordon. Henzell won silver in the 2006 Commonwealth Games, being the seven-time Australian National Champion, four-time Australian Open Champion, and winning the Oceania Championships twice. Henzell previously represented Australia twice in the Olympics, and six times at the World Championships. The Slater & Gordon employee was inducted into the Australian Table Tennis Hall of Fame at 26, 20 years younger than any of the inductees before him. He also made history at the 2004 Athens Olympics when he became the first Australian male to win matches in both the singles and doubles events Henzell started playing table tennis as a child in his hometown of Adelaide. He became Australian under-14 champion in his teens before moving to Sweden as a 14-year-old for 12 years to further his career. His dreams started gaining momentum when he made the junior national squads in his teens, and joined the senior Australian team in 2001.
