THE YOUNGEST ever president of the Association of Women in Insurance Queensland, Olivia Perkiss, will take on the role in 2007.

A solicitor from McInnes Wilson Lawyers and just 27 years of age, Perkiss is also the vice-president of the Woman Lawyers Association, Queensland. Her experience in insurance law was gained through working with Paul Tully, chairman of the firm’s insurance division, where she has specialised in CTP and public liability.

As president for 2007, Perkiss said the association was going through a period of change, which she planned to accelerate in the coming months. “Among these are the development of a website for the association that will be an easy-to-navigate tool for everyone in the insurance industry,” she said.

And despite the association’s name, future male members are also being encouraged to join. “We are encouraging a drive for more male membership which will make the association a professional network for all.”

Perkiss was promoted from her position as vice-president of the association to replace former president Lee Norris.

“I am honoured to take over my new role as president and thank all members of the association for their support,” she said. “I anticipate another successful year for Women in Insurance and look forward to being part of the association’s continued growth.”
