Holding Redlich scores big
Holding Redlich’s Sydney office won the 2012 Law Firm Champions Cup, beating 15 other teams, including ones from Clayton Utz and Herbert Smith Freehills.

Global law firms, small boutique outfits and two teams from the NSW Bar competed in the mixed, round-robin, seven-a-side tournament on half-size football fields.
The victorious Holding Redlich team (pictured) beat rivals Law In Order 2 -1, with senior associate Cameron Sheather a stand-out for his boot magic and impressive goal-scoring ability.
“We didn’t have much time for training in advance of the event so we are thrilled to have been victorious,” said property partner and team captain Richard Abbott. Team members included a mix of lawyers from the firm’s property, corporate and dispute resolution and litigation groups, as well as a member of the catering staff. Although they were champions on the day, they didn’t walk away from the game without some injuries – ranging from blisters to sunburn and sore knees.
Other firms that competed in the event included: Swaab Attorneys, Herbert Smith Freehills, Clayton Utz, Makinson & d’Apice, Norton Rose, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, King & Wood Mallesons, Fragomen, Minter Ellison, Bartier Perry and Kemp Strang.
Football Development Australia offered the opportunity for the law firms to play in the 2012 Law Firm Champions Cup soccer tournament and team-building event. The event was specifically planned as an inter-law-firm event.
