Southern Cross University has launched two accelerated online business law master’s degrees.
Southern Cross University (SCU), which has campuses along Australia’s east coast, has unveiled two new online master’s degrees: the master of laws (business law) and the master of business law.
The LLM includes education in competition law, intellectual property and global business law, as well as traditional business law subjects.
The master of business law (MBL) is targeted at non-lawyers. The university said it is the only online degree specialising in corporate and commercial law for non-lawyers.
“It expands opportunities for professionals, such as business executives and managers, who need to make decisions that have legal consequences for their employers,” SCU said.
Professor William MacNeil, head of the School of Law and Justice at SCU, said the LLM will boost lawyers’ career opportunities in a competitive job market.
“The LLM is targeted at working lawyers who wish to gain their degree quickly and to specialise in business law in order to progress their careers into more senior roles,” he said.
“The course has been developed by lawyers who have broad industry experience and are experts in their fields, and its completion would help many candidates to further their careers.
“If you’re not a qualified lawyer, you may be eligible for the MBL degree. With a diverse mix of students coming from legal, IT, business and engineering backgrounds, participants will benefit from course work aimed at developing competence in specialist areas in corporate and commercial law.”
