FOUR NEW partnership positions have been created from within the ranks of Gilbert + Tobin, in addition to three special counsels and a director.

To begin in their new roles in the coming financial year, Adam Laura and Jason Lambeth are to be new partners in the corporate transactions group, while Deborah Johns has been appointed to partner in the corporate group and Fraser Shepherd in litigation.

Muhunthan Kanagratnam has been appointed special counsel in the taxation group, while Lisa Lennon has been made director of trade marks in the intellectual property division.

Also joining as special counsel is Moya Dodd, in the competition and regulation group. Dodd will specialise in the areas of communications, online and media regulation. Before coming to Gilbert + Tobin, Dodd was vice-president at leading international economic consulting firm CRA International, which has worked with Gilbert + Tobin on a number of projects, such as the GSM Association. Earlier, Dodd held senior business and legal roles at Telstra and Fairfax (f2).

Michael Argy will rejoin the firm as special counsel with the litigation and intellectual property group. Argy previously worked at Gilbert + Tobin as a senior lawyer in the IP and communications teams before accepting as position as corporate counsel for the Nine Network in early 2006.

“These are all terrific additions to the firm,” managing partner Danny Gilbert said. “They are people who have demonstrated their capacity to add to the skills and expertise of the firm and all of them will make fantastic contributions to the firm as we move forward.”
