Lawyers from a handful of Queensland firms, including Carter Newell, McInnes Wilson and McCullough Robertson, showed off their swimming skills this week for charity.

Raising funds for the MND and Me Foundation, a non-profit organisation formed to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease and its impact in the community, teams of lawyers, accountants and other corporates participated in the MW Recruitment Swimming Carnival, which included a race just for the partners.

In the partners’ dash, Carter Newell senior partner Paul Hopkins took out third place behind Paul Greene from Vincents and Brad Edwards from Bank of Queensland.

The event included a charity auction where teams could bid for past and present Olympic swimmers, including Susie O’Neill, Jess Schipper, Christian Sprenger, Cate Campbell and Trent Grimsey, during which over $10,000 was raised.

“The firm enjoys participating in these events,” said Hopkins. “The staff are very active and swimming is one of those events that all ages can compete in. Many staff swim as part of their approach to health and wellbeing.”
