The expansion of Slater & Gordon continues apace with the addition of a Queensland family law firm.

The six-lawyer strong team from Brisbane-based Byrne Legal Group has joined Slaters, with the firm looking to continue its push into the family law practice area.

Last year Slaters became the first firm to introduce a fixed family fee service.

"The introduction of fixed fees will bring an end to one of the greatest uncertainties confronting people dealing with a relationship breakdown - open-ended costs for family law matters," said Paul Byrne, who will join Slaters as a principal family lawyer.

Slaters has also announced that personal injury lawyer Michael Andersen has joined the firm in Townsville.

For the 2010-11 financial year, Slaters, one of only two publicly-listed Australian law firms, increased its revenue by over 46 per cent to $182.3 million.
