As influential and respected jurists, the Honourable Michael Kirby AC CMG and the Honourable Elizabeth Evatt AO, have been recognised as genii at an event for the Schizophrenia Research Institute (SRI).

To be held on 9 September, attendees of the black-tie event, Spark of Genius, will share their table with a mystery genius guest. The genii are leaders in their fields ranging from the arts, the law, media, sports, politics, entertainment, business and academia.

"When faced with the insurmountable task of deciding who represents genius within the legal community, we wanted to ensure that our choice reflected longevity, reform and a commitment to increasing legal access for the disadvantaged," said Helen Connealy from the SRI.

"Michael Kirby is unwaveringly knowledgeable and influential across so many areas and Elizabeth Evatt was instrumental in advocating for human rights and legal reform for Aboriginal people."

The Spark of Genius event is dedicated to the Schizophrenia Research Laboratory, headed by professor Cyndi Shannon Weickert, the Macquarie Group Foundation Chair of Schizophrenia Research.
