THE DIAGNOSIS is a severe case of itchy feet for Corrs Chambers Westgarth, which is now committed to shifting two offices in the near future.

Currently preparing to move its Melbourne operation up more than 20 floors at Bourke Place, Corrs last week announced that Perth lawyers would join the musical chairs craze.

Following national counterpart Clayton Utz’s migration to 250 St George’s Terrace in August, Corrs will leave the QVI Building in mid-2004 to new headquarters across the road at Woodside Plaza, which currently is in the final stages of completion.

Partners accepted a proposal to relocate last Wednesday (8 October) following successful negotiations with DB Real Estate on behalf of The Deutsche Office Trust. Other CBD options were considered, but the new building — consisting of low-rise, mid-rise and high-rise office levels — won out.

Corrs will be situated on the top floor of the 15-story, mid-rise tower. It has committed to a 10-year lease at 240 St George’s Terrace.

After a 25-year stint at the current location, acting CEO John Slattery simply said “it was time for a change”. However he added: “Corrs in Perth has grown and the new premises will provide a modern interior and a quality working environment for our staff.”
