Freehils graduate Sarah Lynch has been awarded the 2011 Gaire Blunt Scholarship for her paper on anti-competitive business practices in Australia.
The scholarship is aimed at people in the junior stage of their career in Australia and entrants are required to submit a paper on a competitive law topic.
Lynch said her winning paper entitled "The Case for Increased Private Enforcement of Cartel Laws in Australia" explored the effectiveness of cartel laws in Australia and whether or not individuals affected by cartels are receiving adequate compensation and redress.
"It's great to be recognised for something that was so heavily researched." said Lynch "Cartels have such wide ranging implications in terms of how they affect consumers and other businesses."
Law Council of Australia president Alexander Ward said the scholarship was helping recognise some of the best and brightest junior lawyers in the field of competitive law.
Lynch is the second consecutive graduate at Freehills to receive the scholarship following the success of Matthee Eglezos in 2010.
