Mallesons Stephen Jaques has launched a diversity survey to all employees to provide reliable data and a sound understanding of partner and staff views on diversity and inclusion at the firm.

Hosted by an external research organisation, the confidential and voluntary survey covers demographic diversity characteristics including cultural heritage, languages spoken, religious affiliation, children, sexual orientation, career status, and views on stereotyping and bias at the firm.

"We see diversity as a business critical issue and a significant investment," said Mallesons' chief executive partner Robert Milliner.

"We are making this investment because we are committed to working with all of our people to build the future growth and sustainability of our business through providing a workplace that is positive and inclusive. With a talent pool that is increasingly global, we need a culture and a workplace that welcomes and encourages the best people from any background."

The firm recently appointed a new head of diversity, Neil Cockroft, who joined Mallesons from NAB where he was head of group diversity and inclusion. He will work closely with the firm's diversity council, partners and staff to implement programs aimed at attracting, retaining and developing the strongest and most diverse talent.
