The specific issues faced by women working in the legal profession will be the focus of an upcoming workshop hosted by the ACT Law Society.

The Women and the Law Workshop, to be held on Thursday 3 February, aims to highlight the problems that women experience in the legal system and to provide pragmatic steps for solicitors, barristers and policy-makers to overcome these issues, through the reflections of experts and from participants' experiences.

Speaking at the workshop will be the 2010 ACT Australian of the Year and editor of Women and the Law in Australia, Professor Patricia Easteal AM.

The human rights advocate will share extracts of her latest book, which provides practical advice on dealing with issues in the practice of law, specific to women.

Easteal's new book was launched by Governor-General Quentin Bryce at the national conference of Australian Women Lawyers in August 2010.
