New firm says west is best

Parramatta is the new centre of opportunity for legal business, with a boom in commerce and construction making it the perfect place to establish a law firm, says one half of a new firm launched last night (8 December).
Director Steve McAuley told Lawyers Weekly that Parramatta was an obvious choice for the firm's location, despite both he and fellow director Pierre Hawach having previously practiced in the CBD.
"We both worked in the city for judges of the Supreme Court and also for law firms, [but] we think Parramatta is an area where there is tremendous opportunity," he said.
"It's a growing area. It's the geographic centre of Sydney and there is a lot of activity and growth."
McAuley Hawach Lawyers will represent clients in all areas of the law, though McAuley sees certain areas as providing stellar opportunities.
"We do everything: litigation, family, criminal, property, wills, commercial. But there is a lot of commerce and business and construction happening at Parramatta and in western Sydney, so they are definitely growth areas," he said.
The firm has also recently engaged Mario Azzopardi, a senior solicitor in Parramatta, and is expecting to make more appointments in the future.
