Wrongly-accused terror suspect Dr Mohamed Haneef is set to return to Australia next month to attend a mediation session as part of his defamation and wrongful detention suit against the Australian Government.
Haneef was accused of being linked to a string of failed terrorists attacks in London and Glasgow in 2007, but was cleared of any involvement.
Earlier this year, Haneef launched legal action against the then immigration minister, Kevin Andrews, and the Commonwealth.
For the past few years, Haneef has been working as a doctor in the United Arab Emirates, but according to a report in The Australian today (22 November), he would ideally like to settle permanently in Australia, depending on how he, his wife and young daughter are accepted in to the community.
The mediation sessions will be run by Tony Fitzgerald QC.
