Those following the $37 million David Jones sexual harassment case will be waiting with baited breath today (15 October) as Kristy Fraser-Kirk and the defendants in her damages suit attend conciliation.

Fraser-Kirk, former David Jones CEO David McInnes and the nine members of the David Jones board will begin confidential and compulsory conciliation talks at the Australian Human Rights Commission in an attempt to settle the matter before it goes to hearing at the Federal Court.

If the talks are successful, it is expected that the negotiations will last for several days. If they are not successful, the matter is due to be heard before Justice Geoffrey Flick just before Christmas.

In a decision indicative of her great expectations riding on the claim, Fraser-Kirk has already knocked back an offer of $850,000 from David Jones, made just prior to the launch of her claim in August.
