Timesheets are a significant stressor and one of the leading causes behind job dissatisfaction amongst private practice lawyers, according to the results of a recent Lawyers Weekly survey.

In a survey of approximately 200 lawyers, 43 per cent stated that timesheets are "intolerable" and greatly contribute to them not enjoying their work.

Twenty per cent of respondents said they see timesheets as part of an outdated business model which needs to change, while 10 per cent said they find them "stressful".

Only 8 per cent of respondents said they do not have any issues with timesheets, while 19 per cent said they don't like them, but can live with them.

The results come in the wake of comments from Marque Lawyers managing partner Michael Bradley that timesheets are inextricably linked to the high incidence of depression amongst lawyers.
