Melbourne firm Lovegrove & Lord Lawyers have this week demerged to become Lovegrove Solicitors and Lord Commercial Lawyers.

The three construction law partners of Lovegrove & Lord, including managing partner Kim Lovegrove, Justin Cotton and John Perry, plus the firm's special counsel Miro Djuric, have migrated to Lovegrove Solicitors which will now primarily focus on construction law, dispute resolution and law reform.

In a statement providing details of the newly formed Lovegrove Solicitors, Lovegrove noted that while it would be headquartered in Melbourne, it would also practice in NSW and the ACT.

Lovegrove also announced that he is establishing a New Zealand practice based in Melbourne that will concentrate on construction law.

The statement said that Justin Cotton will concentrate on practitioner advocacy matters and Miro Djuric will act for insurers and practitioners in both civil and disciplinary jurisdictions. John Perry will remain in the field of dispute resolution with particular emphasis on cases involving residential building disputes.

There are also plans for the firm to carry out work in Africa for a major multinational client on a probity and contractual review retainer and the firm will continue its ongoing commitment to fund the deployment of a full-time lawyer at the HIV NGO "Hope for Children" in Ethiopia.
