The 2010 Law Week is promising to bring the "law to life" when it opens the doors of courts across the country to the public on 17 May.
Coordinating Law Week in Victoria, the Victorian Law Foundation (VLF) works with over 100 partner organisations to present seminars, exhibitions, lectures, Q&A sessions, court tours and a host of other public events and displays designed to provide legal information at little or no cost.
"Law Week is about connecting people with the law and the legal system in ways that are helpful and engaging. It's about exploring the law and legal institutions in a local context and connecting communities in a positive fashion to the legal issues and people that matter to them most," said VLF executive director, Joh Kirby.
"That's why, for example, so many courts across the state are opening their doors to the public and offering tours. That's why the program includes a host of legal information sessions. And that's why the bulk of the program is offered at little or no cost to the public."
