Rio Tinto should be the focus of an ASIC investigation following the conviction and sentencing of Stern Hu for bribery and the theft of commercial secrets, says Greens Senator Bob Brown.
"Australian authorities should investigate Rio Tinto to find out where that money has gone and who else was involved," Brown said.
"The Australian Federal Police may also want to investigate Rio Tinto's part in allegations of bribery and use of commercial secrets as Australia is a signatory to the UN Convention Against Corruption."
Hu was sentenced to 10 years in prison for bribery and stealing commercial secrets, alongside three other Rio Tinto executives who were also found guilty.
"Rio Tinto is reported to have received multi-billion dollar advantages from the activities of Hu and his fellow accused," said Brown.
