Professor Rosalind Croucher has been appointed president of the Australian Law Reform Commission.

Croucher has been a member of the commission since 2007 and she takes over from Emeritus Professor David Weisbrot AM, who held the position for more than 10 years.

Croucher's career spans more than 25 years in university teaching and management roles. Most recently, she was the Dean of Law at Macquarie University (a position she held since 1999), and prior to that, she was a member of the law faculties of the University of Sydney and University of NSW.

She has lectured and published extensively in the field of equity, trusts, property, inheritance and legal history.

She was appointed an honorary fellow of the Australian College of Legal Medicine in 2004, and a foundation fellow of the Australian Academy of Law in 2007.
