A Bond University law student has launched an online training system which will eliminate the need for people to attend group training sessions.

Brownwyn Coulthart, who is currently studying a Juris Doctors in Law (specialising in IP and IT) at Bond, is also the managing director of software development firm Seybienne, which has developed the online Microsoft Office training product.

The product offers subscription-based, 24/7 access to nationally available online MS Office learning modules. The modules cover MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, at various levels of competency, with additional software to be made available in early 2010. Subscribers - including sole practitioners, students, and law firms - can gain instant answers on how to use the applications, in modules of two to seven minutes' duration.

Coulthart claims her business is the first in the country to deliver MS online training in such an efficient format, with full flash video and voice instruction, adding that it has been designed to produce significant cost and time savings to users.

"Our initial $20-per-month subscription fee is a fraction of what organisations would pay - in both hard costs and productivity - for their people to attend off-site training courses for days at a time," she says. "If a subscriber is in the middle of a work task or study, and they want to know how to conduct a mail merge in Word, or enhance their Power Point presentation, or create a formulae in Excel, they can go to our website, choose the relevant module, and have a solution within minutes."
