The evidence at this point is anecdotal, but Lawyers Weekly has noted an increase in major deals coming across the desk this week. Capital raisings are going gangbusters, with Mallesons, Minter Ellison, Freehills and Corrs all scoring seats on the table at major rights issues.

Also this week, two historic deals took place, with Allens acting on the first Treasury Indexed Bond issued by the Commonwealth since 2003, and Mallesons advising 13 lead managers on CBA's $1.5 billion hybrid issue.

In other deals activity, Chang, Pistilli & Simmons acted for the APA Group wind farm project, Allens acted for Yahoo!7 in its acquisition of totaltravel.com, DLA Phillips Fox advised on the rights issue for Tower Ltd, and last, but not least, Arnold Bloch Leibler is representing Nufarm in the company's takeover of Sinochem.
