Avant law, a hybrid medical litigation firm, has launched with offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The firm is an incorporated legal practice, and also boasts 34 lawyers and in-house lawyers practicing in Adelaide who could not join the practice under the legislation governing South Australia's legal profession.

National director of Avant Law Alison Biscoe said Avant's progression from its in-house origins to becoming a firm in its own right is an exciting development.

"Whilst we have a 'new look' and positioning we remain dedicated to medical defence and enjoy the cultural benefits of the 'in-house feel'," she said.

"With the move to an incorporated legal practice the aim is to provide both the firm and Avant with an ideal platform for enhancing services and opportunities for further growth."

Matters handled by the firm include civil claims for damages, professional conduct matters, coronial inquests, criminal proceedings, employment disputes and Medicare investigations. The firm also offers representation in a range of courts, boards, tribunals and before statutory authorities in various jurisdictions.

Avant law is a subsidiary of Avant Mutual Group Limited - Australia's largest medical defence organisation.
