Taking on arguably one of the world's most coveted legal positions, Roger James has been promoted to the role of senior vice president, general counsel for MTV Networks International and MTV Networks UK and Ireland.

Previously the vice president of business and legal affairs for MTV Networks UK, James will now step up into the shoes of Sofia Ioannu, who was recently named the managing director of MTV Networks Latin America.

As reported in legalweek.com, James, who is based in London, will oversee all business and legal affairs for the international business, including music and media licensing, compliance and government relations and supporting the company's joint ventures with Nickelodeon UK and Comedy Central UK.

James has been with MTV since 1997, when he joined as a legal counsel from international firm Richards Butler.
