LOD launches Paralegal Solutions offering
Global flexible legal service provider LOD has bolstered its secondment business by expanding into the paralegal market.

LOD has unveiled Paralegal Solutions, which – either via an onsite secondment or virtual remote support – will provide “flexible, efficient, and cost-effective help” to clients in tackling everyday tasks such as drafting, discovery and research.
Speaking about the new solution, LOD Australia managing director Paul Cowling said that the provider identified a gap in the market for talented paralegals and thus responded to the problem in “the way we always do – with our clients in mind”.
“We have already assisted a number of clients, both law firms and in-house teams with individual paralegals as well as managed teams, with the demand growing quite significantly,” he said.
LOD has seen, the provider said in a statement, legal departments dealing with elevated budgetary and workflow challenges, a trend that has only increased in recent times.
Its Paralegal Solutions offering, it submitted, “allows these teams to resource tasks and workflows at the correct expertise level, taking the pressure off and allowing the legal or compliance team to focus on the larger strategic matters”.
LOD Australia head of people and development for lawyers Sofia Khan added: “More and more we are meeting with paralegals who want to approach their legal career in a different way, and who believe in LOD’s mantra of smarter ways of working”.
“From experienced law graduates and the best trainees, to career paralegals and foreign qualified lawyers, each go through a thorough vetting and onboarding process prior to working with our clients.”
Mr Cowling also noted: “Our paralegals have built up the commercial and industry knowledge our clients expect. They are able to hit the ground running and immediately relieve much of the pressure that our clients are currently facing.”
“We have found that many of our clients are accessing a combination of solutions in addition to paralegal support, including immediate law firm support through LOD Legal, and guidance on long-term legal strategy through legal operations and tech.”
