On 23 January Aitken Partners will merge with DSC Lawyers, previously known as Dalton Sundberg Corr, following its merger with Melbourne-based firm John Matthies & Co in 2011.
“We have been looking for legal practices over the past year that have a strong fit with our culture and approach to practising law. We found that with John Matthies & Co last year and we are confident that DSC Lawyers will be equally successful,” said Aitken Partners managing partner Andrew Blogg, adding that both firms have histories dating back to the early 1900s.
“There are plenty of law firms looking for new partnerships at the moment, but we believe it is critical to find firms with a cultural fit so that any integration is seamless and is long-lasting.”
DSC Lawyers’ Bruce Sundberg said joining with a larger firm would give them the ability to provide more specialised services.
“We have worked with Aitken Partners in the past, both on the same side of the table and from the other, and I am confident this is a great fit for us,” said Sundberg.
Prior to the merger, Aitken Partners had eight partners and approximately 75 staff.
