There should now be no confusion about the possibilities of pro bono activities in law schools thanks to the release of an information paper by the National Pro Bono Resource Centre.

A resource for law schools, students and law student societies, the paper will assist those interested in activities that aim to foster a pro bono culture amongst law students.

The information paper, Pro Bono and Clinical Legal Education Programs in Australian Law Schools, offers a snapshot of some current pro bono programs and clinical legal education programs at each of the 29 Australian law schools. The paper explains that at 16 of the 29 law schools (55 per cent) pro bono activities are “organised or facilitated”.

By revealing the range and diversity of existing programs and providing information about the key issues faced by law schools in expanding pro bon programs, the Centre aims to help the exchange of ideas in law schools.

A copy can be downloaded from the Centre’s website at www.nationalprobono.org.au
