THE AUSTRALIAN Corporate Lawyers Association (ACLA) last week announced the launch, for the ninth consecutive year, of the Australian In-house Lawyer of the Year Awards.

In an event held at Minter Ellison’s Sydney offices last week, Simon Daley, last year’s inaugural winner of ACLA’s Government Lawyer of the Year Award, offered an inside story of working with the HIH Royal Commission. Daley, now special counsel at the Australian Government Solicitor, ran the group that assisted the Royal Commission.

ACLA welcomed Minter Ellison and CCH Australia as its major sponsors for the awards, which was said to recognise excellence in the provision of legal services by in-house lawyers employed in both the corporate and government sectors.
