ONE OF THE few law firms in Australia practising exclusively in criminal defence has merged with a Brisbane city firm to further strengthen its position as Queensland’s biggest criminal defence specialist.
With the merger taking effect from 1 June this year, the merged firm plans to strengthen its Legal Aid service. As well, the union creates a stronger base for the specialist criminal defence work currently practised by both firms.
Peter Russo will become a partner in the new firm, and senior associate Penny White will head the Legal Aid practice, to be based in Russo Lawyers’ current premises in Brisbane city.
The merger will strengthen the firm’s client base, said managing partner Michael Bosscher, as well as help the firm “achieve a long held wish to build on our service for Legal Aid clients”.
