THE QUESTION on everybody’s lips at this year’s Volvo Lawyers Ski Race will be whether any non-Olympic medallists will be able to score a win, after bronze medallist Zali Steggal narrowly beat Caroline Sweeney of Mallesons Stephen Jaques in last year’s tight race.
The race at this year’s event will remain the same, all undertaking a slalom course, run on the Rossignol Racecourse. The course is suitable for skiers and boarders of all standards, and prizes will be awarded across the spectrum.
Last year, the sixteenth running of the event coincided with the Athens Olympics and acquired some Olympic spirit of its own with the late entry of Steggall. The law student and paralegal also won the slalom at the 1999 World Skiing Championships.
The event this year will culminate with a post-race dinner, during which all in attendance will be eligible for a North American ski holiday.
This year’s race is scheduled to take place at Thredbo on 20 August 2005.
