Allens Arthur Robinson solicitor Grace Wong says the biggest challenge of her legal career has been learning how to manage client relationships. While this is arguably a learning curve for all young lawyers, she says that being based in the international hub of Hong Kong adds an extra element of complexity.

Wong says she wasn't always certain she wanted to become a lawyer, but that the satisfaction she got from assisting clients in her first few years reassured her she's made the right move. However, she's upfront in acknowledging the demands her chosen career path will involve, and she advises law students to keep that reality in check.
"Think thoroughly before you start. You have to be very committed, because it's a profession which involves a lifetime of learning and continuous self improvement," she says. "Also, enjoy study life as much as you can because work life as a lawyer is very different!"
