John Palermo has joined MacGillivrays as a partner in its business services section. The firm said he moved to Brisbane from Hobart in April 2005 to take advantage of Queensland’s growing economy. He brings experience to the firm in projects, corporate and commercial transactions, property and tourism based projects. Recently, he has extended his practice into the mining industry. Palermo has advised on the ASX listing rules, board compositions, corporate compliance, restructuring, sales and acquisitions and leasing and property issues affecting public and private companies.
Sydney boutique law firm, Truman Hoyle, has appointed two high-profile teams. Fiona Inverarity, prominent industrial lawyer and previously head of industrial and employment law at PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal, has joined Truman Hoyle to head up its practice in this area. Inverarity, whose clients include leading industrial, gaming and technology companies, joins partner Shawn Skyring and lawyer Tamara Seale, both of whom joined Truman Hoyle in July. Former university medallist from the University of Wollongong, Karen Bohm, has also joined the firm as an industrial lawyer, returning from a leading City of London law firm. Partner Mark Vincent joins Truman Hoyle to head up the firm’s technology and intellectual property practice. He was previously the managing director of Griffin Vincent Technology and Intellectual Property Lawyers. Also joining Vincent at Truman Hoyle is intellectual property specialist Robert Rudolf.
