Mallesons Stephen Jaques has announced it is acting for Spark Infrastructure on its $295 million capital raising and subsequent restructure, which is set to be the first trust "top-hat" restructure.

The repositioning of Spark follows a comprehensive strategic review announced in February 2010.

The restructure is subject to security holder and court approvals and is to be implemented after the capital raising. It involves three schemes of arrangement and two similar processes.

Mallesons advised on all legal aspects of the two-for-seven accelerated non-renounceable entitlement offer, as well as the restructure and broader strategic review.

The Mallesons team is being led by partner John Sullivan and includes partners Tony Bancroft, Ros Anderson and Shannon Finch, as well as senior associates Natalie Kurdian and Intan Eow.
