Melanie Hunter has joined Pinsent Masons as a special counsel in the firm’s Sydney office. Ms Hunter joins from Norton Rose Fulbright.

Ms Hunter has built up an extensive practice that incorporates the full suite of banking and finance matters, including acquisition and property financing, project financing (such as construction and real estate investment funding), acquisition and restructuring of distressed debt portfolios, structuring and documentation of financial standstill and workout arrangements and general corporate lending.

Throughout her career, Ms Hunter has advised global banks on large mixed-use real estate development and construction matters.

Pinsent Masons head of project and finance Jim Hunwick said the appointment of Ms Hunter comes at an opportune time for the firm.

“We continue to welcome leading specialists in their fields who will bolster our track record in advising on specialist finance mandates in Australia and beyond,” Mr Hunwick said.

“As a multinational firm, the diverse background of our new hires only strengthens our existing team’s capabilities as we support a greater number of market leaders across Asia-Pacific on increasingly complex transactions.”

Commenting on her move to Pinsent Masons, Ms Hunter said: “Pinsent Masons’ connectivity across Asia-Pacific and its progressive approach to multinational professional services provides vast opportunities to grow the finance and projects practice and client base.

“I’m enthusiastic about joining an expanding team and being able to contribute to the Asia-Pacific success story.”
