Pinsent Masons hires team from K&L Gates
Multinational law firm Pinsent Masons has bolstered its energy and infrastructure capabilities by taking a team from global firm K&L Gates.
Pinsent Masons has hired an energy, planning and environment team from K&L Gates for its Sydney office.
The team finished up at K&L Gates last Friday (11 November) and will commence with Pinsent Masons on Monday, 28 November.
Ms Richards, who established and led the environment and planning practice at K&L Gates, where she has been a partner for nearly four years, has a particular focus on energy, renewables, infrastructure and oil and gas sectors.
Her team advises on energy generators, renewable energy developers and construction companies on complex, large-scale environmental projects.
She is the latest partner to join the firm (following recent appointments, reported by Lawyers Weekly here and here), bringing the total number of partners across Melbourne, Perth and Sydney to 24.
The news also follows the election of a new senior partner for the firm, as well as the naming of its new APAC head.
Speaking about the appointment of the team, Pinsent Masons Australia office head Matt Croagh said that the “increased rate in project development in Australia reflects worldwide trends as governments and businesses seek to double down on the development of renewable energy resources”.
“Kirstie, along with her team, brings a wealth of domestic expertise to reinforce our Australian full-service energy and infrastructure offering, building on the firm’s extensive reputation in planning law internationally,” he proclaimed.
Ms Richards added: “Now, more than ever, it is critical that all major energy and infrastructure projects successfully manage and integrate planning and environmental issues.
“My team and I are looking forward to joining Pinsent Masons and its sector-led approach, which supports clients across entire project lifecycles.”
Recently, Lawyers Weekly reported that Pinsent Masons had increased its profit per equity partner by 16 per cent in the last financial year and that it has moved to double down on its climate action.
