Global firm grows Australian practice with partner appointment
A global law firm has expanded its global project development and finance practice with the appointment of a partner based in Sydney.

White & Case has appointed a project development partner, Joanne Emerson Taqi, who will add expertise in water and waste infrastructure projects. Partner and head of the global development and finance practice Mark Castillo-Bernaus said it would enable the firm to further support clients in Australia and across the Asia-Pacific.
Ms Emerson Taqi has experience advising on a wide range of construction and project agreements in the infrastructure, utilities and real estate sectors. She advises on all types of development, including commercial, industrial, domestic, public-private partnerships and all forms of contracts. She has over 20 years of experience and joins from Norton Rose Fulbright, where she was a partner.
Also commenting on her appointment, regional section head of Asia-Pacific EIPAF and disputes and partner Andrew Clark said: “Joanne has a strong track record advising clients in the Middle East on some of the largest water infrastructure and waste projects and has been applying that experience to major projects.
“Having Joanne join our team with her tremendous project development experience is an important addition to our market-leading practice in Australia.”
White & Case global executive committee member and partner Donald Baker added that in the last three years, the firm had grown its project capabilities in Asia-Pacific through its implementation of a targeted business plan.
“This has been supported by our recent additions of five project development and finance partners in Asia-Pacific, including in Singapore, Seoul and Australia, and the recent promotion to partner of two lawyers in Australia. Joanne’s arrival demonstrates our continued commitment to the expansion of our project capabilities in Asia-Pacific in response to significant client and market demand,” Mr Baker said.
