Gareth Gammon, former chief operating officer at Jirsch Sutherland, has taken on the role as the new director of Insolvency Australia.

Mr Gammon joins Insolvency Australia after an illustrious domestic and international career, which, along with his work at Jirsch Sutherland, has seen him serve as the chief marketing and communications officer at the University of Notre Dame and as chief executive for Navigate, a London-based integrated marketing and communications agency.

Established in 2021, Insolvency Australia provides business owners, individuals and advisers the only comparison site that lists all the country’s registered liquidators and bankruptcy trustees.

Paul Vincent, director of Insolvency Australia, believes that Mr Gammon will provide expertise and skills at a time when the platform’s role and importance are continually growing.

“As the post-COVID recovery era progresses, there’s expected to be a significant shift, with business directors and individuals – and their accountants – needing to reach out to specialists to help them recalibrate, restructure, recover or possibly exit from their financial challenges,” Mr Vincent said.

“[A]s an insolvency and business industry expert, Gareth is well skilled to bring his expertise and insights to the role and ensure that everyone has easy access to a qualified practitioner.”

Mr Gammon added that as businesses navigate many COVID-related challenges, such as the rise of Omicron and the cessation of government support, Insolvency Australia’s services would prove invaluable.

“Despite insolvencies being at record lows, with the end of lockdowns and government support measures, we are getting back to a more ‘normal’ playing field,” he said.

“According to trade credit insurer Atradius, Australia is set to experience one of the world’s highest cumulative growths in insolvencies into 2022. We are already starting to see ‘cracks’ as businesses navigate the Omicron wave – without any government support.

“We know that those seeking restructuring and insolvency advice – corporate and personal – can struggle to identify the best people to work with. And this is where Insolvency Australia can assist. Our platform offers free search and compare functions, which means directors, accountants and individuals can source the experts that they would like to contact and potentially appoint. Insolvency Australia is the next step in connecting those that need help with those that offer expert assistance.”
