Salmon Earthmoving Holdings acquired

BigLaw firm Gilbert + Tobin has advised Sime Darby Allied Operations on its acquisition of a leading provider of rental and maintenance services in Australia, Salmon Earthmoving Holdings.

Firm: Gilbert + Tobin (Sime Darby Allied Operations).

Deal: Sime Darby Allied Operations has acquired Salmon Earthmoving Holdings, which the firm said “has been servicing clients in the civil construction, agricultural and mining sectors for over 70 years”. Because of the acquisition, Hastings Deering Group – which forms part of Sime Darby Allied Operations parent company Sime Darby Berhad – has “strengthened its market leadership as an equipment dealer in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and New Caledonia”.

Value: Undisclosed.

Area: Corporate advisory, M&A.

Key players: The G+T team was led by partner Adam Laura, who was assisted by consultant Michael McDonald and lawyers Elizabeth Lathlean and Srivatsav Moorthy, as well as partner Amanda Hempel and special counsel Jo Bayes.

Deal significance: Speaking about the acquisition, Mr Laura said: “We are delighted to have advised Sime Darby on this transaction and are confident that their involvement in the business will allow it to continue to grow.”
