Real I.S. makes South Yarra acquisition
Global law firm K&L Gates has advised Real I.S. on the acquisition of 11 Wilson St, South Yarra.
Firm: K&L Gates (Real I.S.)
Value: Undisclosed.
Area: M&A, property.
Key players: The K&L Gates team was led by Sydney-based property partner Samuel Brown.
Deal significance: Real I.S. Group is one of Germany’s leading providers of property investments for private and institutional investors that holds property worth more than €11 billion under management in 11 countries.
The group has been active in Australia for 14 years with this latest acquisition contributing to the €1 billion-plus under management in Australian assets.
According to a statement provided by K&L Gates, the deal reflects the strong appetite for “strategic growth strategy” in the country’s real estate sector.
“This deal follows support for Real I.S. earlier in 2021 on the acquisition of two commercial office assets at 10 Waterloo Street and 119 Kippax Street which, combined, represented the largest single transaction office investment in the CBD fringe area of Surry Hills,” the statement read.
“These recent acquisitions represent the third and fourth transactions for the group of institutional investors building a diversified real estate portfolio in Australia. They follow the Real I.S.’ acquisition of an Adelaide office property in 2019.”
Commenting further, K&L Gates lead partner Mr Brown said: “We have seen significant investment and appetite coming from institutional investment entities, bringing both foreign and local capital into the Australian real estate sector.
“We anticipate continued strong activity and our team is already involved in upcoming capital transactions involving industrial, office and retail assets, demonstrating that the pipeline for real estate investment looks strong.”
