Mitsubishi accelerates sustainability strategy
International law firm Allens has advised Mitsubishi Corporation on its acquisition in a stake of a carbon farming developer.

Members of Allen’s funds, super and wealth team also assisted, including partner Marc Kemp and senior associate Rebecca Sheehy.
Disputes and investigations (employment and safety) partners Simon Dewberry and Veronica Siow, as well as lawyer Courtney Logue also assisted, as did banking and finance partner Warwick Newell and associate Sharon Carey, and intellectual property partner Caroline Ryan and senior associate Nick Li.
Deal significance: Australian Integrated Carbon Pty Ltd (AIC) is a carbon farming developer that assists landholders in generating Australian carbon credit units.
“AIC obtains carbon credits through human-induced regeneration, a process that involves CO2-sequestrations achieved in the regrowth of Australia’s native forests,” a statement from Allens explained.
“The acquisition will assist Mitsubishi in achieving its sustainability objectives, which include ‘transitioning to a low-carbon society’ and ‘growing together with local communities’.”
Commenting further, lead partner Ms Alexander said: “We congratulate Mitsubishi on this significant transaction and are pleased to have worked with the organisation on a key investment that assists the company in achieving its environmental goals.”
