Former Vic Bar president joins legalsuper
A distinguished practitioner and former president of the Victorian Bar Council has moved into the superannuation industry as a board member of legalsuper.
James Peter AM QC will bring vast experience in commercial and financial affairs and corporate governance to the legalsuper board, replacing Phil Kennon QC who retired earlier this month after 12 years as director.
“At a time of continued reform of the superannuation system and increasing expectations from members and regulators, it is critical the board has a relentless focus on their member’s needs, preferences and best interests,” Ms Mander commented.
“Jim’s breadth of experience across complex commercial and financial matters, along with his investment acumen and legal sector experience, align directly with legalsuper’s purpose of managing the retirement savings of Australia’s legal community.”
legalsuper is still the predominant super fund specialising in the legal community, managing more than $4.7 billion on behalf of more than 41,000 members. Chief executive Andrew Proebstl said the fund is committed to supporting members with information, advice and expertise.
“At a time of continuing superannuation sector reform and challenges, we look forward to Jim contributing valuable experience, insights and acumen to the board’s deliberation,” Mr Proebstl said.
