Champions of Pride winners unveiled
The winners of the inaugural Lawyers Weekly Champions of Pride initiative have been crowned at a luncheon in Sydney.
Earlier on Thursday, 11 March, Lawyers Weekly – in conjunction with Momentum Media – hosted its first-ever Champions of Pride event, paying tribute to legal businesses advocating and committing to diversity and inclusion initiatives pertaining to the experience of Australian legal professionals.
The awards program was split into three categories: global firms, national firms and boutique firms.
An Excellence Award, presented to the law firm that scored highest on all criteria, as determined by Lawyers Weekly’s panel of independent judges, was also bestowed.
Reflecting on the event, Lawyers Weekly deputy editor Jerome Doraisamy said it is hugely important for initiatives that acknowledge and celebrate pushes for progress in the workplace to continue and not be outliers.
“As has been said many times before, the legal profession has come a long way, but we still had a way to go in advancing diversity and inclusion, in its myriad forms. Lawyers Weekly is honoured to contribute, even if only in an incremental fashion, to the ongoing efforts on this front and we will continue to help drive such conversations,” he said.
