Booktopia Group finalises $43m IPO

Herbert Smith Freehills has advised Booktopia Group Limited on its $43.1 million initial public offering (IPO).

Firm: Herbert Smith Freehills (Booktopia Group Limited).

Deal: Booktopia Group Limited (Booktopia Group) has finalised its initial public offering (IPO), priced at $2.30 a share.

Value: The IPO raised $43.1 million for a $315.8 million market capitalisation (at the offer price).

 
 

Area: Equity capital markets.

Key players: The deal team was led by partner Philip Hart and supported by senior associate Cecilia Mehl and solicitor Jennie Bian.

The team also included corporate governance specialist partner Stefanie Wilkinson, senior associate Amy Henderson and solicitor Jessica Ginberg, intellectual property and technology specialist special counsel Amalia Stone, and solicitors Samuel Gonski and Thomas Gooch.

Deal significance: Booktopia Group is described as the largest Australian-owned online book retailer by market share. It is an Australian homegrown business having sold items to more than 5 million customers since its establishment in 2004, according to a statement from Herbert Smith Freehills.

“We congratulate Booktopia Group on its successful IPO and are very pleased that the Herbert Smith Freehills team was able to assist on this significant achievement,” Mr Hart said.

“It was a pleasure working with the Booktopia Group team and we wish them every success as a listed company.”
