Firms: HWL Ebsworth (Overland Sun Farming); White & Case (AMP Power).

Value: Undisclosed.

Deal: HWL Ebsworth has advised Overland Sun Farming, the leading solar energy developer in Australia, on the sale of the 120-megawatt Hillston solar farm project to AMP Power Australia.

Area: M&A, energy and resources.

Key players: The HWL Ebsworth team was led by partner Peter Dreher. AMP Power Australia was advised by White & Case.

Deal significance: The deal marks an impressive tally of seven solar energy projects in recent years for Overland Sun Farming, and now more than a dozen of solar energy project deals for well over 1,000-megawatt of solar power generation in the last three years for the HWL Ebsworth team.

“The deal underscores Overland’s strong solar energy project development track record in Victoria, NSW and Queensland. It has been our pleasure to assist Overland in the development and sale of all of their solar energy projects in Australia,” Mr Dreher said.

The Hillston Sun Farm development site is located on open land that is around 3.5 kilometres south from the town of Hillston in the Riverina region of south-western NSW.

The NSW government has classified the Hillston Sun Farm project as a state significant development and therefore the NSW government planning approvals process applies.
