Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP represented General Atlantic Partners and Oak Hill Capital Partners in their US$500 ($640) million acquisition of a majority interest in GE Capital International Services (Gecis), General Electric’s global business-processing operations. The deal values Gecis in excess of US$800 ($1,031) million. Upon closing, General Atlantic and Oak Hill will own a 60 per cent stake. The Paul, Weiss team representing General Atlantic and Oak Hill includes corporate partners Doug Cifu, Ken Schneider, Jeanette Chan, Eric Goodison and Marco Masotti.
Simmons & Simmons advised Barclays Global Investors North Asia Limited on one of the first Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) to track the A share markets in China. This is the only such fund listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (SEHK). The firm said the A50 China Tracker is designed to track the FTSE/Xinhua China A50 Index, comprising the top 50 issuers whose shares trade on the Shanghai and the Shenzhen stock exchanges in the PRC. The deal was led by partner Paul Li and consultant Rolfe Hayden.
